As many as 1,500 people are homeless in Indianapolis on any given night and as many as 7,300 people experience homelessness each year. If you are interested in reducing that number and helping your community, become a volunteer mentor to someone at-risk of becoming homeless. We work with a diverse group of people, and your effort is needed to help someone remain housed, stay off the streets, and build a better life. By giving just a few hours per month, you can make a difference in the community and in someone's life.

Surrounded by a rice field, Teluk Wetan village is home to 9,573 people, who mostly sustain themselves through farming, trading, and making furniture and handicrafts from rattan (a tough palm tree). Tradition permeates this Indonesian society, which closely sticks to a defined culture and maintains time-honoured practices. SDN Kampus Teluk Wetan, a school located in Teluk Wetan village, was founded to provide the local villagers with an educational facility that offers them better, lasting education. Currently, there are 655 students in SDN Kampus Teluk Wetan. School hours are between 7am to 12 am from Monday to Saturday. Aside from regular classes, the students also take part in after-hour activities such as Boyscouts on Friday afternoon, football and volleyball on Saturday afternoon, and art on Sunday morning.
Through this project, volunteers will make bookshelves for a new library, which is just being made to fulfill the reading needs of the students. The volunteers will also actively engage in educational and after-hour activities with the children. Volunteers will teach 3rd, 4th, 5th grade students simple English and introduce some English kids songs. They will equally be involved in valuable culture exchange and in playing with the kids.
Study theme: The volunteers will be introduced to the Indonesian culture and customs in general, with a special focus on the Javanese particularities. Some cultural visits are also foreseen.
Leisure time: During the free time, the volunteers may visit Jepara city which is well known for its wooden craft products. They will also be visiting Bandengan beach.

I am studying the relationship between individual traits, emotions, and the varying experiences people have after a relationship betrayal.
Information provided in this study is completely confidential. No one will know the name of the person responding to any study question. By choosing to participate in this study, you will be contributing to the further understanding of betrayal in relationships which will add to the literature available to couples therapists.
I am a graduate student in clinical psychology at the California School of Professional Psychology at Alliant International University. The results of this study will be used in a research project for my graduate degree in clinical psychology. The main responsibility is tutoring students who request our free, live help. Our service is open and available to anyone that can access the website. Tutors work from the comfort of their own homes/offices on their computer and chat one-on-one with students in an instant messaging-type program. Tutors have many tools at their disposal such as the ability to link the student with online resources, draw on a virtual whiteboard, and transfer the chat to other available tutors online should they need further assistance.
Tutors can tutor in any subject area for which they have knowledge of, at least at the middle school/high school level. Math/science is of high demand, but not required.
We are very flexible with scheduling but request at minimum that tutors be online for two hours a week and commit to six months of tutoring with our service.

Roi-Et is one of the provinces in the North East of Thailand, known between Thais as Isan. The Isan is also one of the regions of Thailand where traditions are preserved and respected; the Isan culture is influenced by Laos and Lao culture. This influence is represented in their special cooking, handicrafts, music and dance and on the typical Muay Thai Boxing. The Bo Pan Khan site dates back to the bronze era, when it was a main economic centre of the region due to the rock salt that could be found in the soil. Nowadays, the site is virtually abandoned despite efforts of the Thai government in the 90's to attract local tourists. Bo Pan Khan is surrounded by water, which is now filled with riverweed.
Environmental conservation is the main work of the project. The projects are: - The volunteers will work at Bo Pan Khan to help cutting the riverweed, then take a riverweed to make fertilizer, cleaning around the area and planting trees or flowers in the garden. This project is running during summer from November to May and for planting trees or flowers would be better to plant during raining reason. - The volunteers will work at the temple to help making organic farm, such as planting cucumbers, tomatos, long beans, morning glory etc. by using fertilizer, the one that was made from riverweed. Helping to water the plants after planting. This project is running during raining season from June to October. - The volunteers will work in the village on a recycling bank project. At first the volunteers will help building the recycling bank where they can separate the garbage and may help to repair the incinerator. Then the group will help to campaign about separating the garbage. And will help recycling the garbage such as making a fish from plastic bottle or paper, making a small flower from straw, making apron from milk box. The volunteers may also help making recycle bins. Creative, entertainment and awareness activities in schools and kindergartens in Pondicherry

Pondicherry, one of the former French Colonies, is located on the East Coast of India. It is one of the most tourist places in the region and has a lot to offer to the visitor. Its laidback atmosphere and amazing beaches give it a very distinctive touch. It is also a prime location for learning yoga and meditation in one of its many ashrams. It is also the home of Auroville, a famous international community created by the Guru Sri Auro Bindo. The volunteer project is organized in cooperation with an active local NGO in the field of education and renovation. In the past years many schools and villages have benefited from the work done by international volunteers, including the 2004 Tsunami-hit regions. A shelter for children and old aged people was opened in a village 10 km from the city, providing support to the poorer sections of the population in the district. The volunteers will be involved in various activities ranging from manual work at the center, creative and entertainment activities in schools and kindergartens and spreading awareness on issues related to education, environment protection, health and hygiene. The idea is to tackle the burning issues that the rural population is facing.

Doctors at Indiana University School of Medicine are conducting a clinical research study for children age 10 to 16 with ADHD and Dyslexia.
ADHD stands for Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity disorder. Symptoms of ADHD can include difficulty paying attention, distractible, fidgety behavior and acting first without thinking.
Dyslexia is a learning disorder that affects reading. Older children with dyslexia usually read more slowly and with worse comprehension than their classmates.

Since 1999 the ex-Convent San Giorgio, a Volunteering Permanent Centre, has hosted hundreds of volunteers in different occasions (national and international workcamps, European Volunteering Service, etc).
The Convent is situated in the region of Abruzzo, centre of Italy, about 150 km away from Rome. It has been fully restored by the local institution Mountain Community and furnished following as much as possible the "static free" standards.
The project aims to bring new economic, tourist and especially cultural and spiritual movements in a quite isolated area. It deals with sustainable living, no waste, recycling and clever use of energies.
As every year international volunteer groups will spend some days at the ex Convento San Giorgio: a good chance to meet people from all over the world, to know a bit of Italian culture, getting in touch with permaculture and sustainable living; all this while staying in a Convent of the XVII century. The tasks of the participants change according to the period of the year, the season and the weather, but can be summarized in:
• maintenance of the structure (cleaning the Convent, painting walls, restoring windows,...)
• feeding the animals (chickens, ducks, sheep, goats, donkeys)
• working in the garden
• cleaning paths around the Convent in the wonderful Regional Park of Sirente-Velino.

Cultural exchange and teaching English to students on Hainan Island

The project takes place in Wenchang, about 70 km away from the main city of Haikou on Hainan Island. Wenchang town consist of a closely related community with a rich culture. During the project, the international participants will work together with other volunteers and local students of different ages. The main activities consist of:
- Developing friendship between the participants and the local students and teachers.
- Visiting schools around Wenchang town.
- Teaching English with the local English teachers.
- Learning Chinese and local language.
- Taking part in some sport games with the students.
Along with teaching the local students English, it is very important to let them meet friends from other parts of the world, thus giving them a chance to expand their horizons. Ayurveda is a 5000 years old Indian health care system that is widely practiced even today. "Ayur" in Sanskrit means "life" and "Veda" means "science". It is a perfect Science of health and longevity. This holistic science is the knowledge of complete balance of the body, mind and spirit, including the emotions and psychology, on all levels. It includes in its consideration, longevity, rejuvenation and self-realization therapies through herbs, diet, exercise, yoga, massage, aromas, tantras, mantras, and meditation. According to Ayurvedic tradition, health is the balance of elements air, earth, fire, and water, and illness is an excess or deficiency of any particular element. Ayurveda treats illness at its source, rather than at the level of symptoms, and helps an individual to take responsibility for their own health and well being. Ayurveda is also known as 'Ashtanga Veda' (the word literally means 'Eight branches of knowledge') as it is divided into eight specialized branches.
Yoga is a complete science of life that originated in India several thousands of years ago. It is the oldest system of personal development in the world, encompassing the entire body, mind and spirit. It is the union between a person's own consciousness and the universal consciousness. The classical techniques of Yoga date back more than 5,000 years. The word Yoga means "to join or yoke together," and it brings the body and mind together into one harmonious experience.
The volunteers will be learning the Basics of Yoga and Ayurveda in these three weeks of the project. Every day, there will be topics covered by a professional master (the person in charge of yoga and ayurveda classes), which will be practiced by the volunteers. Yoga will be practiced every day. Apart from this, the volunteers will also help at the herbal garden and the nearby school. Furthermore, the volunteers will support a local school in need of simple renovation work. The volunteers will also interact with the children teaching them basic English and Mathematics, Health and Hygiene awareness, environmental protection, etc.
Ungaran Disable School is located in Ungaran Regency, Semarang. It is about 10 km south away from the city centre of Semarang. This School was founded with the aim to cater for the needs of disabled children and youth in Ungaran and the surrounding areas. Moreover, this school is also aimed to encourage and motivate the disable children and youth to struggle for their future. It is mainly funded by the Central Java department of health. We would like to host foreign volunteers because we believe that their interaction with the children, during education and vocational classes and other therapeutic activities will be of great benefit as our students have little or no chances to meet and live with people from other cultures. The intercultural dimension that their presence will generate will also be welcomed and valued by the local staffs. The support that the volunteers will give to our teaching staff, particularly those teaching English, will be invaluable. The role of the volunteers will be assisting local teacher in classes like teaching very basic conversation in English, helping teachers in giving training on physical activities of the disabled students like making simple handicrafts, playing, doing simple sport etc . Volunteers' influence on students is expected to create a sense of knowledge of other realities of the disabled kids and other cultures in a way that improves their own perception of themselves and what they can achieve. Also to open the mind of international volunteers that the disabled students also need attention to face their future. It will also give opportunity for the international volunteers about the treatment that should be done by the families of disabled children.

I have always wanted to do this but have never got a chance up until now since I receive a free roundtrip airplane ticket due to generosity of my Dad.
I have heard a great deal of heart-breaking stories …. When you visit them, they hardly let you go since they got nobody there to talk to them, to visit them, to care for them, and especially to love them. Especially the small children, my Grandma said that they keep following you around and they all want you to hold them! My Grandma used to visit them often but since her health condition prevents her from traveling far, she just visits them once a year – during the Lunar New Year time – when all other children are surrounded with their loved ones!
Since this will be my very first time, I do not know in advance the name of the places that I will visit yet.
However, I plan to get their info when I am there. I will take pictures of the kids when I visit them and give them all the donations I will receive. Then I will send those info + pictures to all generous donators via email. The program for protecting the Marine Turtles is run since 1996 together with the Michoacan University and the local people of Colola Beach. This year again the international volunteers will work with the people of Colola village to protect the sea turtles. There are two kinds of turtles that arrive on the beach, the Negra (Black Turtle) and the Golfina (Olive Riddle Turtle). The people involved in the project help by collecting eggs, burying them in the turtle camp, taking care of the baby turtles and doing some work collecting statistical information. In this frame, a group of international volunteers will be involved in the project as members of the staff, which means that the volunteers will be very involved in the project and the work. The goal of this project is to protect the turtles and to help run the conservation activities of the turtle protection program, promoting international cooperation and solidarity.
The main work consists in collecting turtle eggs, burying them again in a secure place, and transporting the baby turtles safely to the sea. This will be carried out at night since the turtles do not get out of the ocean during the day (because of their natural predators, it is safer for the turtles go out of the ocean in the dark). Together with the people from Colola Village, the volunteers will seek for the turtles and take care of the eggs and the baby turtles. Local people, who are very friendly, work with the group and explain them what to do. Very motivated volunteers who really want to get involved in the work for protection of the turtles are needed for this project. There are also some extra activities to be done with the local people in order to help improve the town such as setting names to the streets of the town or helping to arrange a multi-use playground for the children, and maybe some cleaning work, but this depends on the volunteers' initiative. The people of the town are very open to participate in other activities that the group of volunteers can propose, so any ideas will be welcome. Language: The official language of the project is English. Some Spanish would be appreciated. Location: Colola is a small town located on the Michoacan State coast, between Maruata and La Placita towns. It's a remote place that offers an excellent opportunity to be close to nature, on a virgin beach, with no tourism around. The closest city is Tecoman at 200 kilometers, but other villages such as La Placita that are closer (45 minutes by bus) can offer Internet connection.

Ubon Ratchatani is one of the main cities of the Isan region, in the North East of Thailand, close to the borders with Cambodia and Laos. Although it remains among the most traditional areas of the country, it is also the poorest and less developed part in terms of infrastructure or industry; creating a huge rural exodus and migration from the Isan inhabitants to Bangkok. The Khueang Nai District administration wants to dynamize the Deng Mor rural areas and stimulate English learning through the international volunteers’ presence. The main target group of the project will be young people and children. Inside this larger framework, each project will address the specific target group in different villages in the Deng Mor area. Cultural exchange is the main work of the project. The volunteers will discover the typical Isan culture and traditions, visiting villagers, farmers and local artisans, helping them in their tasks. The volunteers will also hold English teaching workshops for the children of several district villages. The exact nature of the work will depend of the needs of the village at the time of the project. Study theme: The volunteers will learn about the culture of rural Thailand in general and the traditions and specificity of the Isan region. Thai language lessons will also be given to the volunteers. Special requirements: A correct level of English language and the will to teach it to kids is obviously necessary. The volunteers need also to be motivated to discover Thai culture and to present the one of their country of origin. Leisure time: Leisure time will be organised by the volunteers with the support of the group leader. The closest city is far but accessible. The region isn’t very tourist attractive as such but the nature is of extraordinary beauty: rice fields, small temples and natural parks are all over the region. New years Eve, according to the Thai Buddhist calendar takes place in April. The volunteers in the April group will have the great chance to attend the ceremonies and festivities in the village with the local population. Accommodation: The volunteers will be hosted in a traditional Isan house in the community and have access to the same basic conditions as any villager. Location: The Deng Mor sub-district area is about 20 km far from Khueang Nai city and 60 km north west of Ubon Ratchatani city, in the Isan region, North east of Thailand. Age range: 18 and over
A potential storyline could revolve around a situation where one family member is a hoarder and the rest of the family is having trouble coping. Or, it could be a family where multiple members are hoarders. In the most extreme cases, there may be a situation where the hoarder has been given an ultimatum to stop hoarding or else be evicted, cut off financially or divorced.

The “Sirenito Macho” project was founded by the Mayo-Carmona family (a local family) in which has been implicated progressively local people and international volunteers to help to protect and preserve different marine species such as the marine turtle nesting in the coastal line of the state, specifically in the region close to Marquelia town. Thus, by collecting eggs from the females and by taking care of them during the whole process of incubation up to the birth of the baby turtles, volunteers and local people contribute to the preservation of these species. Through different activities throughout the year the “Sirenito Macho” project helps to prevent the turtle eggs being stolen, ensuring the turtles’ reproduction in permanence in the zone. Through these activities the organization looks also for increasing the conscience within the local population and local and federal authorities about the importance of preserving these species as well as about ecological matters. It promotes as well a deep cultural exchange between the local people and international volunteers.
The volunteers will carry out different tasks to help preserve two different kinds of marine turtle (Lepidochelys Olivacea and Dermochelys Coracea) by collecting the eggs that the females lay down in the zone and putting them into a yard at the “Sirenito Macho” camping. They will take care of them up to the baby turtles’ birth and help to lead them to the ocean and release them. They will also help to collect statistical data and will patrol the zone where the turtles nest by night. They will have, finally, the opportunity to help cleaning the beach.
The official language of the workcamp is English. Some Spanish would be appreciated. Age range: 18 and over
Valleys of the Himalayas - where the heaven meets the earth. This small paradise is home to the Dalai Lama and to a significant Tibetan settlement in India. Dharamsala is set in the backdrop of the snow-clad peaks of Dhauladhar Mountains. It is the capital of the Tibetan Government in exile and the residence of the Dalai Lama.
In the first two weeks of the project, the volunteers will get the opportunity to learn about the Tibetan culture and the different issues related to the exile of its people and the re-settlement in India. There will be cultural activities and exchange with the Tibetan Youth with the support of the Tibetan Welfare Office. The project will also include an awareness campaign for the protection of the environment and solid waste management in cooperation with the Forest Department. Furthermore, the volunteers will support a local school in need with simple renovation work and interaction with the children (Indian children).
Finally, on the third week of the project, the volunteers will take part in a 4 day trekking activity around the mountains of Dharamsala and Triund.

Location: Dharamsala, Himachal Pradesh, North India, 500 km north of Delhi.
Dharamsala is accessible by bus on a daily basis from New Delhi and other smaller cities of North India. The nearest train stations are Pathankot and Kangra Mandir. Delhi is the nearest international airport.
Vietnam Friendship Village is a treatment/care centre for Agent Orange victims located in Ha Tay Province, which was opened in 1993 to treat children and veterans suffering from the effects of Agent Orange. The children, whose fathers or grandfathers were exposed (causing chromosomal damage) or who were contaminated from their mother’s milk, suffer from a range of difficult conditions. While staying in Vietnam Friendship Village, children and veterans are nourished and are provided with free medical care. The children, who may stay there for several years, receive not only basic education, but also some forms of job training.
The Organic Gardening Project was launched in 2004 with the goal of creating islands of a harmonious approach to agriculture within areas of environmental and human devastation - increasing awareness of the consequences of war and, at the same time, demonstrating positive strategies for healing and living. At this moment, the farm is providing about 60% of the village’s consumption of vegetable. It is expected that it will cover all the needs and there will be products left for sale to raise funds for the village.
Volunteers will help with clearing the site, preparing soil, weeding, planting vegetables and fruit trees, cleaning a fish pond and redecorating the flowers in the garden. Additional activities may include planting trees, moving bricks for construction, collecting garbage and playing with the children or exchanging with local volunteers or farmers.
Discussions among the volunteers about Agent Orange, Vietnamese culture, and other social issues will take place during some of the evenings.
