Firestone Fire Chief 4-A-42 "Georgian" from 1947. Large working vintage console AM/FM radio with turntable. Beautiful wooden cabinet has two side storage cubbies for vinyl records. Purchased from an antique store in Wisconsin a long time ago.
We have been displaying it in our home for decades as is, as a piece of furniture and fun radio music for parties. Husband used to work in radio so it was a great conversation starter. We would open up the turntable as a display, but we never used the turntable.
We have videos to view the tubes lit up, radio sound, and turntable turning, but Craigslist doesn't allow movies. We could share with anyone seriously interested.
NOTE THESE ISSUES: 1) We do not have a needle so cannot verify if record player works, but the turntable controls work and the turntable turns. 2) The radio tuner knob moves only for a small part of the radio frequency - it won't move the whole distance of the radio display so you are limited in the stations you can get. 3) The radio pre-set tuning buttons (row of small buttons in the middle of the display) do not work - they push in, but nothing happens. (Not that we know what should happen...)!
It has a cover on the back which we removed for one photo to show you the innards.
Many people would want to refinish the cabinet, but we left it as is. The fabric within the speaker area could use a good cleaning or replacement if desired. The cabinet overall could use refinishing to bring out the beauty of the wood as well. Very nice carvings on sides, and nice feet on the cabinet. The top is big enough to display other things on top of it.
Measures approximately 39 1/4" tall, 32 1/2 " wide, and 17 3/4" deep.
