Remote Start “SCAM” Beware of MOBILE electronic TECHNICIANS (Indianapolis)

WARNING. . . WARNING. . . WARNING. . . . . . . . THIS IS HOW I GOT RIPPED OFF ! !

RE: REMOTE CAR STARTER - AUDIO / VIDEO - SCAM

GREETINGS ALL. . .

I recently contracted an individual online to install a remote starter in my 2017 Chevy Suburban. I won't mention the guys name in FEAR OF RETALIATION

The guy showed up to my home in a NOT SO nice looking vehicle, that was the first RED FLAG.
I've always been the type not to pre-judge, so I listened to his sales pitch and showed me a bunch of pictures. He seemed pretty knowledgeable. Long story short, I decided to give him the job.

He said the installation would take approximately an hour - 1 1/2 hours. He showed up at my house at 7:00PM (supposed to be there at 5:00), and did not leave until a little after 10:00PM.

When demonstrating the unit, I noticed my CHECK ENGINE LIGHT kept coming on and off and I asked why that was happening. He said it was probably another issue not related to the remote starter.
I immediately knew I was in trouble. My gut told me he was B.Sing me.

I took my vehicle to the Chevrolet Dealer and what they diagnosed was that the wiring harness had been probed too many times searching for the correct wires. His actions compromised the harness and could not be repaired without replacing the harness to the tune of over $2100.00.

Of course when I called him he was full of excuses and offered to come over and take a look at it. When I told him what the estimate was to replace the wiring harness, he immediately started launching defense missiles blaming the vehicle or me.

I called the "Attorney Generals" office and they assisted me in filing a fraud report.

THIS WHAT THEY SHARED WITH ME:

These guys are mobile because they can't afford a place of business of their own They are WORKING out of their VEHICLE or HOUSE.

They are NOT licensed to legitimately do business in the State of Indiana

They are NOT properly insured ( liability insurance, workers comp ).

They ONLY accept cash for payment and do not pay income tax.

The product they are using was probably stolen from their employer or purchased at a flea market ( all auto electrical components, speakers, stereo units, remote starts, car alarms and video systems have a serial # ). You can call the manufacturer to see where the products came from. If the REMOTE START etc. was not installed by a company authorized by that manufacturer. . . IT " WILL NOT " HAVE A WARRANTY.

I GOT BURNED BIG TIME. . . . HOPEFULLY THIS WILL KEEP YOU FROM MAKING THE SAME
$ 2176.52 MISTAKE ! !

I HAVE HAD REMOTE STARTS INSTALLED IN ABOUT 15 VEHICLES OVER THE YEARS AND USED SEVERAL DIFFERENT COMPANIES TRYING TO SAVE A DOLLAR. "I AM DONE " IT'S NOT WORTH IT !

IF THE COMPANY HAS NOT BEEN IN BUSINESS FOR AT LEAST FIVE YEARS. . . . MOVE ON. . . . IF THEIR PLACE OF BUSINESS LOOKS LIKE AN OLD GAS STATION OR OIL LUBE PLACE. . . MOVE ON. . . . IF IT RESEMBLES A TIRE DEALER OR AUTO REPAIR SHOP. . . MOVE ON. . . . IF IT'S IN THE WRONG PART OF TOWN. . . MOVE ON. . . . IF THEY ARE MOBILE. . . . I HAVE LEARNED MY LESSON, CHEAPER MOST OF THE TIME IS "NOT" BETTER ! ! !

I RECENTLY BOUGHT REMOTE STARTS FOR MY FAMILY AT WELL ESTABLISHED BUSINESSES IN CASTLETON AND GREENWOOD. ONE WAS A LITTLE MORE EXPENSIVE THAN THE OTHER, BUT "WORTH IT" !

BEWARE . . . . . . IF YOU'VE HAD AN EXPERIENCE LIKE MINE, SHARE IT WITH ME ALONG WITH THE COMPANY AND INSTALLERS NAME, AND I WILL ADD IT TO MY REMOTE START / CAR AUDIO / VIDEO. . . . . SCAM BLOG.
